The graph of greatness

We bring you the great and not-so good of this week

Really great

gog1

1) Stefani Germanotta, aka Lady Gaga, certainly knows how to make a comeback. Not content with opening the iTunes Festival last weekend and releasing a new single and album, the 27-year-old singer is also starring in new movie, Machete Kills. Oh, and  since she stuck up for 1D when they got booed at the VMAs we’re definitely one of her Little Monsters.

Not great at all

gog2

2) Swoonsome Brit actor Douglas Booth is set for superstardom in new flick Romeo And Juliet, out next month. Plus, he’ll be popping up in 2014 films Noah and Jupiter Ascending. Excellent news, as we could look at his beautiful face for hours.

3) Cher is making a comeback at 67! The wigs are crazier, the outfits are even more bonkers, and the album is out later this month. You’d better believe it.

4)  We can’t wait to see more of new Xtra Factor presenter Matt Richardson. He’s joked about looking young enough to date co-host Caroline Flack though, so we suggest he treads carefully.

5) We wish fun-but-firm Jonny Mitchell, the headteacher at Thornhill Community Academy in C4’s Educating Yorkshire, had been boss man at our school way back in the day.

6) If S/S was all about eclairs, A/W belongs to the meringue, mostly thanks to hip east London bakers the Meringue Girls. Just try not to baulk when you’re asked to pay £3 for a bit of egg white.

7) Is it just us, or have Liam Gallagher’s infidelities only served to remind us how gorge Nicole Appleton is? She’s been papped looking happy and hot.

8) Musician Will Heard wasn’t on our radar until he collaborated with Cara Delevingne (whose voice is actually pretty good) on an acoustic version of dance track Sonnentanz. We’ve got a new musical crush.

9)  We are so excited by the idea of the Luther movie (two hours of Idris Elba action, anyone?). But we think it’s important to proceed with caution when it comes to TV-turned-movies – eg Downton The Movie: yay! Big Brother The Movie: nay.

10) St Tropez is launching an instant tan range this month, which means no more standing around naked waiting for it to dry. Or is that just us…?

Line of mediocrity

After watching Isla Fisher, Kirsten Dunst and Lizzy Caplan making fat jokes about Rebel Wilson for 87 minutes in film Bachelorette, we’ve decided that being unsisterly is just the worst. Can we try to be nice to each other please?

I’m not so great

12) Worrying trend alert! With reunions by Backstreet Boys, 911, 5ive, and ‘N Sync (albeit just for the VMAs), we’ve reached saturation point with the ‘90s boy band comebacks. There was a reason we said Bye, Bye, Bye the first time, lads.

This week it’s Friday 13th – eek! If you’re superstitious, it’s probably best just to have a duvet day.
